“Even this year the Split Port Authority is proud to announce further increase of cruise ships calling the port expecting a total of 238 calls by the end of the cruising season. Because of the favorable Mediterranean climate the cruise season is extended from early April up to late November. This year we will host several new calls as Ocean Village Two, Thompson Celebration, Oosterdam as well as the huge P&O Ventura in August and the Princess Cruises astonishing Grand Princess in October. The Port of Split is a permanent member of Medcruise Association of Mediterranean Cruising Ports and is present at all major cruising events in the world. Although the share of cruising traffic in our port is only 3 % (total passengers in 2008 being 4.1 million) the beauties of the this old roman city within the walls of the Roman Imperial palace of Diocletian are attracting more and more cruise passengers in search of authentic Mediterranean places.”
